Legislature trying again to prevent UT-Knoxville from having Sex Week

I seem to remember this happening last year and the students made Sex Week happen anyway. While I disagree with resistance to sex education for minors, “protecting the kids” is at least an argument (despite the evidence that abstinence only education doesn’t work and puts young people at greater risk). But what are they protecting these legal adults from?

So since the sex negative representatives failed to stop sex positivity last year, they’re trying again this year, instead of arguing that tax dollars shouldn’t be used, now they’re saying student activity fees shouldn’t be used. If an a student run event for students to provide education to other students doesn’t count as a student activity fee, what does? I’m a little curious what they’ll say next year as to why Sex Week shouldn’t happen.

And of course, me being me, here’s the take from Reddit’s sex forum, lovingly referred to as Sexxit

Edit: Tristan Taormino does a great first hand account of her experiences being a speaker this year.
